On a random day about 18 years ago, Chef Otsuka's father called him from Japan and asked what he really wanted in life. Chef Otsuka didn't have to think long - he already had a vision of owning a restaurant but didn't have the means to turn it into reality.
He left his head chef position at the posh Japanese restaurant Tsukiji in Makati and loaned the needed capital from his parents. Hanakazu officially opened inside BF Homes, Parañaque, on March 12, 2005.
Hanakazu was one of the pioneer commercial establishments along Aguirre Avenue, paving the way for the area to transform into a bustling business lane.
Fast-forward 17 years, and Hanakazu opened its doors in its new home - The Bellevue Manila.
With the restaurant now in the Alabang area, authentic Japanese food got more accessible in the South.
